The Donner DED 400 review
There are hundreds of entry level electric drum sets to choose from.
Making the right decision isn't easy, especially when you are completely new to playing drums.
To decide which one is the best fit for your own needs can be difficult, and I hope that this Donner DED 400 Review will help you make the best decision possible.
Here are the main features of the Donner DED 400 drum kit in short:
Donner DED 400 electric drum set
This is the Donner DED 400 electric drum set.
For the money, it is very well-equipped, and it comes with mesh heads on all drums – even the kick pad – a drum stool, a pair of drumsticks, a bass drum pedal and a headphone.
With all these components in a single box, you can start your drumming career without having to worry about any other accessories.
In comparison to its little brother – the DED 200 – the Donner DED 400 drum kit looks a little different:
The snare drum pad is bigger and measures 10.5 inches (ca. 27 cm) in diameter compared to an 8” snare drum pad on the DED 200. Additionally, sounds can also be assigned to the “rim” (edge) of the Donner DED 400 snare drum pad.
All drums are equipped with white mesh heads showing the “Donner” logo. Also, the drums seem to be heavier and maybe even sturdier than those of the DED 200.
Quality
In comparison to its little brother – the DED 200 – the Donner DED 400 drum kit looks a little different as mentioned already.
All drums and also the kick pad are very well-built and make a very sturdy impression. Nonetheless, the drum throne and the headphone work great, but their quality isn't quite the same as the rest of this electric drum set.
The functions of the sound module are easy to understand and finding the perfect drum kit for your own playing works without much ado.
Contents
The huge parcel contains several smaller boxes. This allows a very secure transportation of each drum part to your house.
Inside, you will find a drum throne, a headphone 2 drumsticks, the snare pad, hi-tom, mid-tom, floor-tom and kick drum pad with mesh heads. The sound module, the hi-hat plus a foot pedal, a kick drum pedal, crash and ride cymbals complete the Donner DED 400 e-drum kit.
If you need help or instructions on how to set it up, there is the DED 400 manual included.
Cost
The Donner DED 400 costs $649.99,- at the moment. That's $200,- more than the DED 200 costs. Still, there are many occasions during the year to get it for a discounted price.

My final thoughts
If you are about to buy your 1st. electronic drum set, the Donner DED 400 is a great drum set to consider.
Compared to many other entry-level drum sets the Donner DED 400 is very well-equipped and comes with a lot of features other manufacturers don't offer at this price point.
If you are on a tight budget, you should also consider the Donner DED 200 drum kit which I can recommend for beginners of any age group.
